January is a great month to fish in our area. Pompano, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, black drum and redfish move down from the north with cooling temperatures. Greater numbers of sheepshead and sea trout also show up. The cooler weather clears the water in the Indian River Lagoon, allowing good site fishing opportunities. Snook and some tarpon are also available.
